In concur images are typically stored in a raster PNG file format. In Vision, these are converted to PDF-A format when transferred using the Blackbox Connector for Concur Expense and Deltek Vision.

In the example we'll use here, we used ExpenseIt to capture the image and then entered it as an Expense line item in Concur Expense.  The PNG file that was uploaded to Concur Expense has a file size of 410 KB - not terribly big to begin with, but print quality when you consider it's 72 DPI at a 1361x541 image resolution (this would equate to 300 DPI at a 4x1.5 inch size print).

When the Blackbox Connector transfers this receipt image with the associated Expense transaction to Deltek Vision for reimbursement, the PNG image is converted to the PDF-A format on loading to Vision, at the same resolution (print quality).  The conversion to PDF-A ensures that you have the most widely accepted format for record documentation, but also optimizes the file from a compression standpoint, resulting in a file size of 286KB, or a reduction in space consumed of about 70% of the original file size.
